Stage 9 — Spirituality
For some survivors, faith becomes a source of comfort and strength.
For others, abuse can create deep spiritual questions.
Some survivors feel abandoned or betrayed by their faith.
Healing spiritually may involve questioning beliefs, rediscovering faith, or finding meaning through other paths such as meditation, community, or personal reflection.
Spiritual healing is deeply personal.
Each survivor finds their own way.
Stage 10 — The Process of Change
Healing requires change.
Recovery involves gradually changing patterns, behaviors, and beliefs shaped by trauma.
This may involve:
learning new coping skills
establishing healthy boundaries
leaving harmful relationships
building self-confidence
Change takes time.
There will be setbacks along the way, but setbacks do not erase progress.
Every small step forward matters.
Being patient and compassionate with yourself is essential.
Stage 11 — Resolution and Moving Forward
The final stage focuses on resolution and moving forward.
Healing does not mean forgetting the past.
Instead, the abuse becomes part of the survivor’s life story rather than the defining center of it.
Survivors gradually reclaim their lives.
They may discover new strength, deeper compassion, and a renewed sense of purpose.
Healing is not a final destination.
It is an ongoing journey toward peace, self-understanding, and hope.
